Feature 1: All-in-one Dashboard
The All-in-One Dashboard acts as a personal travel command center, offering a centralized and easily accessible platform for all travel-related information. This feature provides a comprehensive overview of your journey, including flight schedules, accommodation details, and daily activities, all visible from a single dashboard. Enhanced with customizable widgets for weather updates, currency exchange rates, local attractions, and travel advisories, it ensures that travelers have all essential information readily available.

Feature 2: Streamlined Itinerary Planning
Odditour's Streamlined Itinerary Planning feature offers an effortless way to organize and manage travel plans, enabling users to consolidate all essential journey details like flight information, hotel bookings, and activities in one organized place. It enhances group travel experiences through multi-user collaboration, allowing travelers to collectively create, modify, and sync their itinerary in real time. Additionally, it provides secure storage for important travel documents such as e-tickets and reservation confirmations, ensuring easy access and hassle-free management of travel essentials.
Utilizing the double diamond method in my design process allowed for a thorough exploration of creative solutions and meticulous refinement, ensuring that the final product met the intricate needs of the target users with precision and innovation.
Approach:
The drive to create a collaborative travel booking and management app is fueled by the burgeoning travel and expense management software market, projected to surge from USD 2.84 billion in 2022 to USD 7.91 billion by 2030. This upswing signals a need for mobile-optimized travel solutions, in line with the mobile booking domain's expected 12.2% CAGR growth through 2029, thanks to increasing smartphone usage.
A review of existing travel apps shows potential for new market entrants. For example, Booking.com's 35% market dominance in 2021 suggests opportunities for fresh competitors. Moreover, the app-first preference in emerging markets underscores the demand for more intuitive mobile travel apps.
Research:
The urgency of addressing this need is underscored by the travel management software market's forecasted growth to USD 20.1 billion by 2032. The trend towards app-centric solutions and efficient group travel coordination points to a market eager for a comprehensive app that blends booking ease with team collaboration, streamlining travel logistics and enhancing group travel efficiency.
To deepen my understanding of the product's market potential, I conducted a comprehensive analysis of competing online booking platforms. This strategic evaluation is aimed at identifying differentiators and potential areas for competitive advantage within the industry.
To augment my comprehension of consumer interaction with current applications, I undertook an internet-based ethnographic investigation. This involved the aggregation of user responses and discussions from various digital platforms, including the Apple App Store, Reddit, Quora, and multiple review websites. The purpose was to execute a qualitative evaluation of user experiences and viewpoints.
User Pain Points:
Based on the findings from user-focused and contextual research, it was determined that the application primarily appeals to adventure seekers with an interest in eerie experiences, covering a wide demographic spectrum. In order to represent this key user group accurately, I developed tailored user profiles and personas. These personas have been instrumental in guiding the strategic approach towards continuous product enhancement.
User Profiles:
In product developing, I focused on aligning key functionalities with user needs. The itinerary planner integrates activities, flights, and accommodations, designed for ease of modification and appealing to spontaneous travelers. The integrated navigation feature streamlines day planning, eliminating the need for external tools. The AR guided tour immerses users in mystical experiences.
App Architecture:
The app architecture comprises five main screens: Explore, Saved Events, Itinerary, Collaboration, and AR Guided Tour. This layout addresses user pain points and enhances usability, facilitating memorable and well-organized travel experiences.
Initiating with rapid brainstorming sessions and informed by prior research and feedback, the ideation phase transitioned into iterative refinement, culminating in the final design concept. Emphasizing broad conceptual enhancement over minute detail, I employed low-fidelity prototyping techniques such as hand-drawn and digital sketches, complemented by wireframes, to facilitate swift iteration in line with UI design best practices.

Feature 3: AR Guided Tours
Odditour elevates travel experiences with its AR Guided Tours, tailored for enthusiasts of the paranormal and mysterious. This feature uses Augmented Reality to bring immersive storytelling to life, allowing travelers to delve into haunted locations, historical mysteries, and unexplained phenomena with a vivid overlay of narratives and visuals on real-world settings. It offers interactive exploration, enabling users to journey through eerie sites using an interactive map, uncovering hidden stories and secrets.

Embracing the confluence of technology and artistry, Odditour transcends the conventional travel experience, offering a portal into realms hitherto unexplored, and weaving a tapestry of virtual and tactile sensations that promise to enrich and elevate the sojourner’s quest.
Design System:
Throughout the rapid and solitary journey of crafting the UI design and conducting UX research for the app, I've pinpointed several successes and areas ripe for enhancement. The project's triumphs included the adept application of user-centric design principles and the swift adaptation to iterative feedback, which were instrumental in refining the app's interface and functionality.
Learnings:
This intensive endeavor has been a profound learning experience, enhancing my expertise in balancing aesthetic appeal with usability, mastering rapid prototyping tools, and distilling complex research data into actionable insights. Moreover, the project honed my abilities to work autonomously, prioritize tasks under pressure, and develop a versatile skill set that spans across both design and research domains.
